What is special about Marigold?

Marigolds are the best neighbor plants there are.

They improve the soil, act as a trap for harmful insects that you would rather not see on your other vegetables, and therefore attract beneficial insects such as ladybugs and hoverflies.

In addition, they keep ants at a distance.

Sowing and growing marigold

The cultivation is very simple. Two plants fit in one compartment, but because they are such good neighboring plants, you can also place one near the climbing frame, for example in the zucchini or beans compartment.

Marigolds sometimes suffer from mildew (white rash), especially at the end of the season. Then simply cut away the affected parts. If the plants become too big and ugly, simply remove some branches. The more you do this, the more the plant will produce new flower stems.

The step-by-step sowing and growing instructions for Marigold can be found in the Easy Vegetable Garden app. But if you would rather read about it, you will find an extensive page in the Knowledge Base here.

What do you use Marigold for?

Especially as a useful neighboring plant and to add color to your containers.

The petals are edible and give your salads, rice and omelette a nice color.
